Market

NEW Do you want a second market day, on a Saturday, in Saxmundham? Read about the council's proposal and tell us what you think...

There is a market in Saxmundham every Wednesday. The town has a large Somerfield supermarket in Church Street, as well as a good selection of specialist shops and banks in the High Street.

The market is held in Market Place just off the High Street next to the Bell Hotel. It has a range of stalls including fruit and vegetables, cheese, fish, garments, flowers and garden plants.

The market is 'owned' by Suffolk Coastal District Council. It was owned by the Long family, then it passed to Mrs Aldous a descendant of the family and when she became elderly she transferred it to the District Council.
