Saxmundham has over 750 years’ proud heritage as a market town.  A bustling market day is important to the town’s identity andis something that benefits, residents, visitors and local business owners alike. As such Saxmundham Town Council is dedicated to continuing this vital strand of the town’s rich history and, in recent years has invested heavily in it rejuvenation and improvement.  We now hold a weekly market on Wednesdays in the traditional Market Place, a monthly Saturday artisan market across 3 locations, as well as a Victorian Christmas Spectacular which draws visitors from far afield.

Whether you’re visiting for a day of shopping or looking to trade at one of our popular markets, you’ll find everything you need to know on this page.

Artisan Saturday Markets

Saturday markets are held on the 2nd Saturday of every month (March – November) and attract a wide variety of stallholders and visitors.  Each month has a loose theme to encourage new traders to attend, though the themes are not prohibitive and we still enjoy seeing our regulars each month.

The monthly markets are held across 3 locations around the town; The Market Hall, Fromus Square and The Market Place, depending on numbers.

A full list of planned markets for this year can be found on our ‘events’ page.

How to trade at Saxmundham Market

We currently host a richly varied array of traders, from those who turn up week in, week out, to those who come once or twice a year.  Our market goers appreciate their regular favourites, as well as seeing new stalls often.

There is no long-term commitment to trade at Saxmundham Market and we warmly welcome new businesses.  In fact, our monthly artisan markets are themed in order to offer a variety of opportunities for different traders to come along throughout the year.

Currently, as part of our initiative to rejuvenate the Wednesday Market, pitches for the weekly market are free of charge.  To book your spot, or to make an enquiry please contact Michael.

Pitches for Saturday Markets start at just £15 ad can be booked via our Eventbrite page.  Indoor and outdoor pitches are available. We have a dedicated team available on Market Day to assist and direct you.
