Market Hall Dances – Market Hall, Saxmundham – IP17 1AF
Our last dance for this season is with a welcome return to BOF!
In 2000 Bof! started playing as a four piece band specialising in traditional French and Breton music for dancing and listening to. During that time they have played in folk clubs, for dance groups and at festivals in England and France. The band’s repertoire is mainly traditional music from Central France and Brittany, but also includes compositions by members of the band and others. Bof’s line up: Gwendal Moele (vocals), Val Woollard (Bagpipes, Recorder, Flute, Desk bells and Saxophone), Simon Haines (Diatonic accordeons, vocals), Phil Lyons (acoustic guitar, vocals).
If you have never tried French and Breton dancing before why not come along and give it a go, for most Breton dances you do not require a partner and some are fairly simple to pick up. Most towns in Brittany have a fest noz (night dance) in the summer, often weekly where the whole community meets up, dances, socialises and has a drink or two. There will be lots of peoples who will help you with the steps, if you are not a dancer why not come along and just enjoy the wonderful music.
No bar – please bring your own refreshments.
