Saxmundham's Market Heritage
Saxmundham has over 750 years’ proud heritage as a market town. A bustling market day is important to the town’s identity and is something that benefits, residents, visitors and local business owners alike. As such Saxmundham Town Council is dedicated to continuing this vital strand of the town’s rich history and, in recent years has invested heavily in it rejuvenation and improvement. We now hold a weekly market on Wednesdays and a monthly Saturday market in Fromus Square, as well as indoor craft markets, throughout the year.
In December, the High Street is closed and people flock from far afield to attend our the Saxmundham Christmas Spectacular.
Whether you’re visiting for a day of shopping or looking to trade at one of our popular markets, you’ll find everything you need to know on this page.
