Saxmundham Town Council are seeking a Town Clerk to work Monday-Thursday .

Saxmundham is an historic Market Town with a fast-growing economy and population. It is culturally active and retains a friendly identity. The town centre is developing with new businesses starting up all the time.

The Town Council is very active and committed to continuing the achievements of recent years through strengthening the infrastructure and developing social, sports & leisure facilities, community events and support to the local companies and town markets.

Saxmundham Town Council is now looking for a confident person with an interest in the local community for the post of Clerk to the Council. This person should be dynamic and organised, able to take a strategic view whilst managing the small team and ensuring that the Council adheres to its statutory duties. The Town Clerk will work with the Council advising and developing its aims and policies and implementing its decisions.

Whilst it is desirable that the new Clerk is experienced in local government including town or parish Councils, this role could appeal to someone who has strong managerial experience and is prepared to complete CiLCA (the designated professional qualification) within the first three months.  The role is for four days per week, Monday to Thursday including attending some evening meetings.  The salary will be pro-rata based on the NJC scale LC3 (£36,922 – £42,821) depending on experience, plus a NEST pension.
